A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:  Psalm 92:1

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;  Ephesians 5:20

What is Thanksgiving?

Most Americans only think of thanksgiving as that day in November when we eat turkey, which is called Thanksgiving Day, not thanksgiving.

The giving of thanks which is true thanksgiving is much, much more.

Thanksgiving is the act of giving thanks.

Thanksgiving is a prayer expressing gratitude.

Thanksgiving is giving thanks to God.

Thanksgiving is spoken throughout the word of God.

In the scriptures, thanksgiving went with singing and worship to God

For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.  Nehemiah 12:46

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.  Psalm 50:14,15

We are to come before the LORD with thanksgiving.

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.  Psalm 69:30

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.  Psalm 95:2

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.  Psalm 100:4

We are to sing with thanksgiving to the Lord.

Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:  Psalm 147:7

For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.  2 Corinthians 4:15

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.  2 Corinthians 9:11

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  Philippians 4:6

We are to continue and abound with thanksgiving.

Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  Colossians 2:7

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.  Colossians 4:2

Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.  Revelation 7:12

We all have so much to be thankful for and so much to give thanksgiving to God.

We have our salvation, our most precious gift from God, given to us with so much love.

We have Jesus Christ, God's most precious gift.

We have eternal life, where we will never be separated from the love of our Lord and Father.

We have wonders in heaven to look forward to that will surpass anything we have seen in our life times.

What is my thanksgiving?

I give thanks to my wonderful, heavenly Father God for His never ending love, His enduring mercy, and His abundant grace.

I give thanks to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, for His love, for dying on a cross for my sins, to redeem me in the eyes of the Father, for shedding his blood to wash away all my sins, so that I could receive everlasting life in the presence of God Almighty and live forever in the kingdom of God.

I give thanks to my Lord God for all the many, many countless blessings he has given me all through my life, my wonderful family and friends, my health, my joy and my happiness, my faith and my life.

What are you thankful for?  What is your thanksgiving to God?
